September, 2008 Meeting
Our September 2008 meeting will feature the Garand Rifle! Bring your Garand, and listen to several club members share their expertise with respect to the cleaning, maintenance and operation of the greatest battle implement ever devised.
Moving Forward
In the wake of the loss of our Pungo range, the club plans to pursue the following goals:
- Secure the use of an existing outdoor range within reasonable driving distance for our members so that we can continue to shoot in the short term (hopefully including matches).
- Continue our long term effort of building an outdoor range of our own in Southside Hampton Roads.
- Maintain visibility within the shooting community by continuing to attend gun shows and offering interesting speakers at our club meetings.
- Maximize club revenue by maintaining the current dues structure and promoting club raffles.
- Cut club expenses by distributing the Lands & Grooves online and by moving the monthly board of directors meeting to donated (free) office space. Please insure that we have your valid e-mail address.
- Promote club cohesiveness and fellowship through scheduled group shoots and other outings.
- Support the Tidewater Friends of NRA committee in its efforts to raise money for local and national education, safety, and range development programs.
If you have any thoughts you'd like to share with the board of directors regarding the state and direction of the club, please e-mail Steve Gordon.
